In celebration of the Children’s Museum of South Bend now being open on Sundays, local author and illustrator Stephen Barany will host a special reading and craft event on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at the Museum, launching his children’s book, Alphabet Parade.

Starting at 1:00 p.m., families are invited to gather for a joyful afternoon of story, creativity, and hands-on fun. Children will engage in playful crafts inspired by the book—including coloring pages and cut-and-fold paper models—before settling in for an interactive book reading at 2:00 p.m. 

The event is included in the museum’s admission price and open to the public. Three signed advance copies of Alphabet Parade will beraffled off to attendees. Children and parents will also have the opportunity to meet the author-illustrator in person, and learn more about the story behind the book and the hands-on learning resources that accompany it.

Please note: filming for a promotional video will take place during the book reading. Attendees who wish to participate will be asked to sign a standard film release form.

Little ones ages 3-5 will step into a world of imagination as they dream up their very own characters! Through playful movement, expressive voices, and creative costume exploration, kids will build confidence and bring their ideas to life. This workshop is all about celebrating bold choices and big imaginations.
